My Grandson’s Favorite Snack
These baked ham and cheese sliders are a family favourite recipe. My grandson asks for them every time he visits. I love this easy slider recipe because it uses simple things. It turns leftover ham recipes into something magical.
You just layer ham and cheese on soft rolls. Then you pour a buttery mustard glaze on top. The smell from the oven is wonderful. Doesn’t that smell amazing? It makes everyone gather in the kitchen.
Why This Little Recipe Matters
This is more than a quick and easy dinner. It is about feeding people you love. Good food brings everyone to the table. That matters more than a fancy meal.
It also teaches you not to waste food. Using leftovers is a smart kitchen habit. Turning extra ham into cheesy ham sliders feels clever. What is your favorite way to use leftovers? I would love to hear your ideas.
The Secret is in the Glaze
That buttery mustard glaze is the star. It soaks into the rolls. It makes them golden and a little crispy. The mix of honey and mustard is just right.
*Fun fact*: The poppy seeds are mostly for a cute look. They add a little crunch. But you can skip them if you don’t have any. The sliders will still be perfect.
Perfect for Busy Days
These are the best make ahead appetizers. You can assemble them hours before guests come. Just cover the pan and put it in the fridge. Then bake when everyone arrives.
That makes them simple entertaining recipes. You are not stuck in the kitchen. You can enjoy your own party. Do you prefer to cook ahead, or cook while everyone watches?
A Story from My Kitchen
Once, I made these for a big family game night. I forgot to cover them with foil at first. The tops got too dark! I still laugh at that. But you know what? They still tasted great. No one even noticed.
That is another reason this recipe matters. It is very forgiving. Cooking should not be stressful. These sliders are friendly and always turn out well. They are my top party food ideas for a reason. Will you try them for your next gathering?

Instructions
Step 1: First, warm your oven. This gets it ready for our baked ham and cheese sliders. I always preheat to 200°C. It’s the first step for any easy slider recipe. This simple trick makes everything cook evenly.
Step 2: Now, slice your rolls in half. Keep them connected as a sheet. Spread mayo on the bottom. This keeps the bread soft. It’s a secret from my grandma’s kitchen. (A thin mayo layer prevents a soggy bottom!).
Step 3: Layer your leftover ham and cheese. Cover every bit you can. Use Swiss or your favourite cheese. These cheesy ham sliders are a family favourite recipe. Do you have a favourite cheese for melting? Share below!
Step 4: Make the magic buttery mustard glaze. Just stir everything in a bowl. That honey and mustard smell is amazing. This glaze makes them special. It’s perfect for simple entertaining recipes.
Step 5: Brush that glaze all over the tops. Bake them covered, then uncovered until golden. The cheese will bubble. You just made the best quick and easy dinner. Let them cool just a minute before serving.

Serving & Pairing Ideas
These baked ham and cheese sliders are great party food ideas. Serve them with a simple pickle spear and potato chips. For dinner, try a cozy tomato soup for dipping. They are also fantastic make ahead appetizers for a crowd. Which would you choose tonight?

Keeping Your Sliders Tasty for Later
Let’s talk about storing these yummy sliders. They are best fresh from the oven. But you can save them for later. Let them cool completely first. Then, wrap them tightly in foil. Pop them in the fridge for up to three days.
You can also freeze them. Wrap the whole tray or individual sliders. They will keep for one month. I remember my first big batch. I froze half for a surprise visit from my grandkids. It was a lifesaver!
This matters because life is busy. Having a quick and easy dinner ready is a gift to yourself. Batch cooking turns one effort into many meals. Have you ever tried storing it this way? Share below!
Simple Fixes for Common Slider Snags
Even easy recipes can have little hiccups. Here are three common ones. First, soggy bottoms. Always use a baking dish. The rolls should be touching. This keeps the glaze on top.
Second, cheese not melting. I once used cheese that was too thick. Slice it thin or shred it. It melts beautifully then. Third, dry ham. Use your leftover ham recipes or buy good sliced ham. A little mayo adds moisture.
Fixing these issues builds your cooking confidence. It also makes the flavor perfect every time. Good food should be joyful, not stressful. Which of these problems have you run into before?
Your Quick Questions, Answered
How to make baked ham and cheese sliders?
This easy slider recipe is simple. Slice your rolls in half. Spread mayo on the bottom. Layer ham and cheese. Put the tops back on. Whisk the buttery mustard glaze ingredients. Brush it over the rolls. Bake covered, then uncovered until golden. This creates the perfect cheesy ham sliders for any occasion.
What is the best cheese for ham sliders?
Swiss cheese is classic. It melts well and tastes great with ham. But you can use any cheese you love. Provolone or cheddar are also wonderful choices. The best cheese is the one your family enjoys most. This makes it a true family favourite recipe.
Can you make ham and cheese sliders ahead of time?
Yes, they are fantastic make ahead appetizers. Assemble them completely. Cover the dish tightly. Keep it in the fridge for several hours. You can even do it the night before. When ready, just bake as directed. This makes them perfect simple entertaining recipes.
How do you keep sliders from getting soggy?
The key is the baking dish. Pack the sliders tightly together. This supports the sides. It also stops the glaze from soaking down into the bottom bun. Letting them cool for a few minutes before serving also helps. They will hold their shape better.
What to serve with ham and cheese sliders?
They are a full meal themselves. For a party, keep sides simple. A crisp green salad or pickles are perfect. For dinner, try tomato soup or roasted veggies. They are the star of any party food ideas list. A fun fact: poppy seeds in the glaze are optional, but they add a nice little crunch.
How to reheat ham and cheese sliders?
Wrap them in foil. Heat in a 175°C (350°F) oven for 10-15 minutes. This keeps them from drying out. The microwave can make them rubbery. The oven keeps the bread soft and the cheese melty. It brings back that fresh-from-the-oven taste. Which tip will you try first?

Baked Ham and Cheese Party Sliders
Description
These irresistible Baked Ham and Cheese Party Sliders are the perfect crowd-pleaser, featuring soft rolls layered with ham and Swiss cheese, all baked in a flavorful buttery mustard glaze.
Ingredients
SLIDERS:
BUTTERY MUSTARD GLAZE:
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) (180°C/350°F fan-forced).
- Assemble the sliders – The rolls may come attached to each other, but this is fine – leave them like that and just slice the bunch of attached rolls in half horizontally. Spread the mayonnaise evenly across the bottom layer.
- Layer the ham and cheese – Distribute the ham evenly among the rolls, followed by the cheese (try and place it so it covers as much of the surface area as possible, and the pieces can overlap between the rolls). Place the top halves of the rolls on, to form the sliders. Transfer the sliders to a large baking dish, making sure they are touching.
- Make the glaze – In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder and poppy seeds (if using).
- Add the glaze – Brush the glaze generously over the tops of the sliders reserving 1 tablespoon for later (optional), ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Bake – Cover the sliders with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted. Run a knife between the rolls to separate them. Brush the remaining glaze on top of the sliders for an extra-shiny finish (this is optional).
- Serve – Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a different flavor, try using cheddar or provolone cheese. You can also add a thin layer of pickles or a spread of honey mustard under the ham.
