Detailed Directions and Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes
Start by washing and scrubbing the potatoes thoroughly. Then, boil them in a large pot of salted water until they are fork-tender. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
Step 2: Cool and Cut the Potatoes
Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and let them cool. Once they have cooled enough to handle, cut them into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Step 3: Cook the Bacon
In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it becomes crispy. Once done, remove it from the skillet and place it on paper towels to absorb excess grease. When cool, crumble the bacon into smaller pieces.
Step 4: Prepare the Dressing
In a separate bowl, mix together the ranch dressing base, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 5: Combine Ingredients
Add the crumbled bacon, chopped green onions, and the dressing mixture to the bowl with the potatoes. Gently fold all the ingredients together until the potatoes are evenly coated in the dressing.
Step 6: Chill the Salad
Cover the potato salad and refrigerate it for at least an hour. This will allow the flavors to meld together.
Step 7: Serve
After chilling, give the potato salad a good stir and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve it cold, garnished with additional crumbled bacon and green onions if desired.
Notes
Note 1:
Feel free to use any type of potatoes you prefer, such as red or yellow potatoes, as they both work well in salads.
Note 2:
For a lighter version, you can substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise in the dressing.
Note 3:
This potato salad can be made a day in advance, making it an excellent choice for gatherings and picnics.
Note 4:
Adding additional ingredients like shredded cheese or diced bell peppers can enhance the flavor and texture of the salad.
